it takes that long if you do the long format. it goes faster if you do fast format. my understand is that fast format is okay for new drives. i guess that's a lesson learned for next time i once did a long format for the same drive three times in one day. i'm stupid like that.

Ok....just curious here.

If its better that MS didn't know about that copy of Windows, why not just download a new copy that has SP2 on it? Seems alot easier and simpler....and wouldn't screw u up next time u need to install.

yeah 320 gigs are 300 gigs.. 80 gigs are 75 gigs...

It's a rip off

but you can compress it so that should give you 320 as total storage anyway

Unleet, Good to know you got it worked out.

Yea I partitioned the same exact hard drive the same exact way last night.

Just to make sure everything went well, I killed anything going on, and did the NTFS Partition but I made my new 280GB Partition a Primary Partition not a Logical Drive. Had you wanted to do a fast partition, you would have gone with FAT rather than NTFS.

What I have come to understand about the 2 is that NTFS is the more popular of the 2 when it comes to Windows.

If somebody wants to elaborate on the differences, please do :-D.
