Could this be a bad overclock??

I reached what I thought to be a very stable overclock of 3.01Ghz on my
E6600. (My first overclock ) My memory is set to 4-4-4-15 @ 833 Mhz. I ran orthos which was perfect for 12 hours. No errors.

Now about four days later, after having my system on non-stop for 3 days trying to download a huge torrent, I stopped it, did a reboot and my system came up all scrambled.

What I mean is the display on my desktop looked like an old Nintendo game that ran to hot. (remember when you would have to blow on the cartridge ) Thats what it looked like.

I promptly shut down, then restarted with no problems. I'm currently on the rig in question which is functioning. So is this related to a bad overclock,Or did I just leave the PC on too long?

you can't leave a PC on too long. without knowing anything about your overclock, i'm going to guess that wasn't the problem. P5W DH Deluxe is a great overclocker and 3.0 isn't high for an E6600.

did you check the simple things like making sure your DVI or VGA cable is screwed in tight on both your video card and your monitor?

Sorry bout' the slow response. I actually had a real time getting a program to read my temps, I have a 64-bit OS. As far as load I did have another program working in the background when I got this temp.?.?.?

I'm sure my DVI cord is attached. But, I'm sort of thinking the same thing you said, I did have the computer on for 3 straight days.

I notice that Nigel's Video card is overclocked. Usually a graphical problem is because the card can't handle the overclock.
