Well, who do you prefer to deal with? Companies, who are ultimately controlled by your money, or the government, who most of the time is controlled by special interests?

I mean why are we even bothering these poor little corporations who so graciously spend their own hard earned dollar to provide us consumers witha service that we so ingraciously criticize, when the corporation decides to streamline it's service based on how much money is thrown at them, ulimately providing a service that offers us with less choice and is suceptible to subjective content manipulation (gasps for air)

...I can't believe I said that in 1 breath!

Content manipulation? I honestly don't know how one can rationalize such claims. All businesses fall under a sort of "fair business practices". Market pressure, consumer protection groups, and ultimately the consumer will force said corporations to be "honest".
Anyways, ISPs want a fair return on their investments. Wouldn't you want a fair return on your investments? Companies that make their living from the internet (google, yahoo, etc) are the lying thieves here, and they are playing everyone like a fool.

ok, so you're saying that certain NGO's operate to regulate business in the US along with 'Market Forces' but isn't this 'regulation' just a hinderance to the 'flow of commerce'?

If a comapany enacts new self regulatory acts, then it's just responding to the needs of it's consumer base (duh?). But when popular media is threatened by an individual-centric digital medium, who else will rally political support to oppose any regulation?

Really, the choice is yours, the individual. I mean after all we live in a 'free' 'Democracy', so we're 'free' to choose from among the choices provided us (?!?).
