8800GTS 320 vs 640: Surprising Results - Page 2

That is if the game is graphically coded right. Take CoD2 for example. Anything below 91 I believe, and you can tell a difference.

That's wrong. At 30FPS the human eye will believe it is seeing fluid motion. However, most people can definitely notice a difference between 30fps and 60fps in fast pace games. Once over 60fps, then it really isn't distinguishable.

Memory size has no impact of performance unless you need more. It is the same with the whole 2GB RAM vs 4GB RAM.
Once again...

I couldn't say it better.

Beyond 70FPS, I can't tell a difference.

That 30fps thing is BS, I can seriously tell when my games lag to 58 FPS, usually even 59 FPS. I refuse to even play a game if i can't do 45. My monitor refreshes at 60, so I'm not sure about telling between anything higher.

There must be something wrong with your eyes.. I can see perfect difference between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90.. Anything past 85 I can't really tell. But anything under 60 is definitely lag to me..

The 30FPS is not BS... someone just misunderstood the value.

I had 2 320's SLI and got amazing 3dmark scores but once I played any of the DX10 games/demos the performance wasn't there. SO I upgraded to the GTX I play my games at 1600x1200 and thought the 320's were not as good as they are being credited for.

I stand corrected. I did some research to back-up my arguement that the human eye can't see more than 30 fps, and instead found This.

That being said, I still can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps in NFS Carbon.

Keep in mind that there are already games that require 512mb of video memory in order to even select Ultra graphics. Regardless of whether you feel it would run great with 320mb, you won't even get the option to try (greyed out).
