is it possible faking shader version 3?

Thread Starter
My video card is X800GTO which does not have shader version 3,
I'm trying to play Colin McRae dirt which required this shader thing,
Is it possible to make the game think I have this shader 3 so the game will load? I played few games that required the shader 3 with this video card and they worked just fine, so I think if I could just run the game it might work.

Thanks,
Rami.

Uhm...I imagine not. You might have just had some games that supported shader 3 but didn't necessarily need shader 3.

The specs needed for Dirt are really demanding, I wouldn't even bother on an X800 and a P4 2600. Maybe get the demo if you're desperate to try it, but I didn't even bother.

The other games work because they don't require shader 3, it's optional, and you can just fall back to shader 2 and keep playing. DIRT doesn't include support for anything but shader 3, and the only way you are going to get around that is a hack. We can't talk about those, sadly.

You won't be able to play DiRT with those specs, you need a P4 3.0 minimum to run it with a card that has Shader model 3.0, even if you were to run it, it would still give you crap frame rates at the lowest settings
