TV as a second monitor question

Thread Starter
I have a small 15" Portable TV. It has an S-VIDEO slot and AV-INI Video slot. My video card also have a S-VIDEO slot.

Is it possible to turn the TV into a monitor? If yes, what wires would I need and what would I need to do?

I'm pretty sure you would just need an S-video cable going from your GPU to the TV and you can enable dual monitors in the display properties.

yup, you just need a s-video cable

Hook it up to your gfx and tv, enable the TV as a monitor in display properties and you're good to go

Thanks for the above replies. I bought a S-video/S-video card, it's detecting everything and show image.

Now, how do I set resolution separately on each monitor? I want to stay as 1440 x 900 on my SyncMaster, but 800 x 600 on mt TV.

So far, I can only clone and span it up to somewhere 2000 x 1024.

Lets see you have Nvidia right?

Open the control panel.. unfortunatly mine is in Norwegian.. you aren't norwegian are you?

if you can find a wizard for setting up multiple monitors that's it. Set it to Dual View
And you can adjust the resolutions from the icon in your tray. easy as pie

Would a SDTV even be able to do 800x600?
Once again...

But not over 1024x768 I think.

It will do around 800x600.. but the refresh rate will kill you if you try and play games..

Looks like your on the right track though.

Good Luck
