Need Help!

Hey guys, my parents have decided to let me spend my graduation money on a new laptop for school. I have $1000 to spend, and basically no knowledge in the laptop field. The student side of me will be using this for word processing, and basic internet surfing, but the gamer side of me will use it for games like CS:S, Warcraft III, and World of Warcraft. Could u guys please give me some suggestions on a nice system that could accomplish all these tasks? Thanks!

P.S: like i said before, i know basically nothing about laptops so if im asking too much for a $1000 laptop feel free to point that out. I also would prefer not to overclock this system, so a system that will perform this at stock would be best. Thank you!!!

Looks fine just depends on what your going to do with it.

Its alittle pricy if all your going to do is homework and search the net.

Graphics Card: Intel GMA950

I doubt that would handle CSS or WoW

And don't worry, you can't OC laptops anyways. They have cooling problems as it is

Your link is a decent computer for a fair price.
Pros: 2GB RAM, 200GB HDD.
Cons: GMA 950
The graphics card is about the least powerful on the market, I do not game much so can't say if it is going to be a problem but could be especially in the future. Ask some gamers.

Here is a link http://www.gateway.com/retail/mt6459.php CPU not quite as fast but real world might not show, HDD 160GB Graphics card much better, price in your budget.

Comparable to what you found $849 http://www.gateway.com/retail/mt6841.php

160GB HDD is enough for most people but you decide.

This is for gaming. I am not to sure how these perform but if you find some extra money maybe you can upgrade.

I would recommend a laptop with 7600 GO graphics in it. Integrated graphics come on most laptops and are for the most part, garbage for games IMO. A 256mb 7600 GO will provide you with some power but not be outrageously priced. I would recommend at least 1GB of RAM, don't buy a laptop with 512mb, it simply isn't enough. A dual-core AMD Turion or Core 2 Duo would suit you just fine, too.

This Asus Notebook is a great choice IMO ($1,039). AMD Turion X-2 TL-55 (1.8GHz), 1GB of DDR2 667 RAM, 120GB HD, 256mb geforce 7600 GO, and Dual Layer DVD Burner.

This Asus A7 is even a little better for only a little more $$$ (1,099), and has a 17.1" Monitor and 160GB HD

The Alienware laptop killerhz said is an awesome choice.

This Everex laptop meets these specifications also and only costs $800.
