Thread Starter
With the arrival of my brand new Maxtor 500GB drive I finally pushed over the 1TB hump. If you're like me and have a ridiculously large amount of HDD space - post here and post why

My space is here for my tuner and my effort to go diskless by ripping images of all my dvd's to my drives
It goes to eleven

HDTV Tuner, XviD encoding of the TV I capture for smaller filesize and the same effort to rip all my DVDs to HQ rips

Just for clarity, all the TV i capture is from an OTA antenna for HD locals.

I have 1 TB of physical space, but 1/4 of it goes towards redundancy.

If you did that I'm assuming you would set up a RAID 5...almost Raid 0 performance, you have parity, however you don't get the capacity of one of the drives

Assuming of course that you would spend THAT MUCH on storage!

Oooh! Me! Me!

2x Baracuda 7200.10 250GB - Raid 0
Single samsung 500gb for storage/backup

Why? I dunno I bought the cudas for the performance and then my dad offered to pay for half of a 500gb so he could do network backups. And there you have it!

Project Sonic, (my desktop) has around 1.5TB HD space at the moment. I'm currently running:

WD 500GB SATA2
Seagate 250GB SATA2
Seagate 160GB SATA1
Seagate 160GB IDE
WD 120GB IDE
Seagate 120GB IDE
WD 200GB IDE USB External

Most people say I could never fill this up and wondered why I need all that space
