X2 3800+ stepping and temps - Page 2

voltage fluctuations are fairly normal and not too dangerous, ine usually goes from 1.39v to 1.44.

I also have an LDBFE and am sitting at 2.65Ghz, I think it could go higher however the thing LDBFE's are noted for is heat. I dont know how high yours is but when I first got the chip, stock HSF and stock speed and voltage it hit 71C under load right out the box. I have since got a better cooler and at 2.65ghz with a voltage bump I now load at 60C, still high, but fairly safe. However I dont intend to push it further - with the voltage increase I would need to hit 2.7ghz it idles at 52C, I havnt dares try loading it so am sitting back where I am

Wow, I wish I didn't have such a crappy mobo. This chip has potential!

Crappy, I don't know about that, I have the non sli version of your board & same processor I'm at 2.6 with room to go higher. I'll bet its not your processor holding you back, maybe ram, have you isolated every component for overclock, (Isolate & consolidate), or some other setting in bios. If you would like I could PM with all my settings to get to where I am, no two are the same, but might get you further than where you are now.
