Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme vs. Super Coolers - Page 2

And, thank you, MasterKromm, for taking the time and doing that.

gruinon: Are they serious? Why are they considering other things besides noise and temperature in a CPU Cooling Comparison?

Edit /// Re-read review. The Thermalright is much, much quieter (by 30-40dBA!).

Yeah I don't understand either, we the enthusiast care about the bottom line...How Cool can we go
Regardless, both are great coolers.

ok - my beef with this review and alot of reviews is they claim one cools better than another, when it comes with a stock fan installed this is all fine and good but on products that come fanless they really should pull the enzotech fan off and throw it on the thermalright cooler and run it at equal rpms & cfm.

until they do that they really cant say one cools better than the other

thermalright at 1200rpm @ what cfm
vs
enzotech at 1400rpm & 2530rpm @ what cfm for each speed

@Stargate... anandtech did a comparison involving the TR 120 and the TT, finding that the TR-120 was every bit as effective as the Tuniq (and at the the time, a better $/performance ratio). I am assuming that since the extreme's performance has proven to be an upgrade to the ultra 120 they felt it would be redundant to pit the TT against the extreme since they had already had a previous precedent to work from.

edit: I understand I am citing results from anandtech, and this was an xbit bench...but you could still draw the same parallel in performance

I've been able to hit 3.92 ghz on air stable for orthos and benching (Although the temps are far too high for everyday use). That kind of overclock used to be for water cooling and better.

The extreme has been worth the investment. I;ve been considering getting a second fan on the tower but cannot find the mounting wires and anti-vibration strips anywhere for sale.

Their reasoning for saying that the thermalright is better is single-handedly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you can't see why it is just that, you need your head checked.

...BLANKING IDIOTS. X-bit labs just lost all credibility in my eyes for that little gem.

Short of stating that they propped up that review for Thermalright they couldn't have made it more obvious.

I agree with the reviewer, I would sacrifice a little performance for less sound.

Please do. I hate the clips provided (and they come perilously close to my spirit II nb cooler). If you have a way to do it, I'd be very interested.
