Apogee waterblock bow

Quick question, I'm going to put the larger O-ring in my waterblock tomorrow to create the bow on it, so which way should i seat the block? Will it be immediately visible after i put the block back together? And will I see a big difference in temps?

Say o=inlet/outlet on block, what orientation should it be? so would it be like oo or like 8 on my mobo? (sorry if thats confusing)

You know thats a good question and I just don't remember...I know you do need to orient it in a certain direction to have the core covered properly...


So bump it up for an answer.....

The Apogee mounting plate isn't bi-directional, like the Fuzion. Nor is it's inlet barb in the center, the bow
should create the correct convex to allow improved core contact so that orientation shouldn't be an issue.

Heres an image of an e6400 without it's IHS ...



from this image you can see that the triangle for pin 1 is in the upper right hand corner for reference. You would want the bow to go the full length of the core ... up and down in this image ... to maximize the coverage. So, your Inlet and outlet barbs need to be running up and down for the bow to run the length of the core.

here's another great link with an image showing the thermal paste and how the bow "imprint" indicates the best alignment for core coverage.

It looks like their bow is on an Apogee GTX ... and the bow goes the opposite direction of the previous Apogee GT block.

Regardless ... once you've bowed your block, the "higher" ends need to go the the left and right of the vertical core orientation.

As far as Socked 775 is concerned it is because the mounting holes are nearly square 72.15MMx72.25MM

So you're saying that the barbs should be running with the core so they would appear sideways like this:



Instead of up and down like this:



Right?

Once you do your bow, whichever way your barbs are oriented, the high sides of the bow should be to the top and bottom of your case ( I'm assuming your motherboard is oriented like the images you posted )

It appears that the GTX and the GT bow opposite of one another ... at least from images I've seen of the bows.
