1 - 10 on the BADASS Rig Rating!

Hey all,

I have my final build in place, wanted to get some feedback on it.

- - - - -

CPU: Q6600 (stepping version from Tankguys)

MB: Asus P5K Deluxe

RAM: 2GB G.Skills HZ (or the Crucial Ballistix if the awesome price / $100 mail in rebate comes back on Newegg)

HD: 2 x WD 320 Caviar OYS RE2 series drives in RAID 0 (unless the 7200.11s come out before I order)

GPU: EVGA 8800GTX (although it could be better to wait for the 9 series and get a cheaper one [8800GTS 320MB], unless the EVGA Step-Up program is worth it. Opinions?)

PSU: 610W PC Power & Cooling Silencer

Case: Lian Li V1000B

CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower

Mouse: Logitech 518 Gaming Grade Mouse

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse II

Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 226BW 22" LCD

DVD: Pioneer DVD +/- Burner

Soundcard: X-Fi XtremeMusic (may mod it later)

- - - - -

Opinions? I will be using it to game as well as lots of BitTorrent stuff, burning, MP3s / video, etc. etc. General all purpose rig. Look like the best way to spend the cash? Any major mess ups? Will the Tuniq Tower + stock Lian Li case fans be sufficient in terms of cooling? I do definitely plan to overclock it once I learn a bit more on how to do that, so keep that in mind as well.

Also, is Newegg the best place to shop for this stuff, with the exception of Tankguys for the CPU and Xoxide for the case? Anyone else know of some sweet places to get good pricing?

To keep it fun, on a scale of 1 - 10 for badass rig ranking, where do you place this one?

Thanks to all of you who have offered advice on individual parts over the last few days. I'm finally getting there!

maybe go for the 640Mb gts over the gtx , that should save like $100 and be able to play all the first gen dx10 games nearly as well as the gtx, also gives ya a $100 start towrd buying a 9 series second or third gendx10 card

I like future proofing, so I suggest having the OPTION of going SLI. SO add a more powerful PSU for the future.

Expert you say? Then I'm the guy!

System, as built, looks like it'll last you for a good 2.5-3 years before it will be necessary to buy a new system (cept for maybe the gfx card), but you'll probably build a new one before that. Like KingSnake said, it may be advisible to look into a cheeper gfx card, but then again, EVGA has the step up program. Google it and you can see what it does. If you haven't used it before, then think about getting a 9 series card in a year if they up to par on DX10 games.

If you're really looking for an amazing system, look into keyboards and sound system. You can get a good set of 5.1's for your comp for less than $100 and keyboards just depend on preference. I like my G15

that's all i can think of right now. Enjoy!

Looks great to me - just make sure you tidy your case because with all that stuff can get a little cramped.
