DX9 still rocks.

DX10 hasn't proved any useful yet. It's still crap IMHO. The 8600GT and 8600GTS runs similar performance to the 7600GT - 7900 cards.

Don't expect much from the 8600 cards if you're going DX10 mode.

there is no dx10 games out there to test them, and the gts is only $170 AND FASTER THAN THE X1900 AM NOT SAYING DX9 SUCKS THE DX8 9800 WENT ON For a long time after dx9 came out but there shader models were obsolete thats whats gonna happen with the x1900

Actually it was for the other dude but you can try it too =) $60 cheaper than the 1950xt and it has dx10. I'd definitely get it at that price. Next cheapest one is $165

the 1950XT will run circles around that card though. think about it like this: the very first batch of semi-DX10 games will start to arrive as we roll into Christmas this year. every single one of those games will be DX9 with a little bit of DX10 window dressing. then next year we'll probably see the first real DX10 games, but they'll all have options to run in DX9 (in CoD2, you can play the game in DX7 if you want). by then, the 8800s will no longer be the top dogs and their prices will be lower. your uncle can then sell his 1950 on E-Bay if he decides he must have DX10. if he doesn't care, he'll already have the better all-around card.
