Vista64 Install issues.

Thread Starter
Hey guys.

Well to Install Vista on my SATA HDD I need to obtain the SiI3114 controller drivers so that Vista can actually detect the HDD. I have gotten the drivers and have extracted them from winrar to my floppy disk. However when I try and use the drivers Vista doesnt seem to pick them up. Just for a laugh I tried the 32bit ones I had on a disk and it worked...however I didnt proceed with the install as they are 32bit and not 64.

I have made sure I have the correct drivers. Im using the Windows Vista 64 Base drivers from here : http://www.siliconimage.com/support/...ctid=2&osid=10&

Im not using RAID so I assume I only need the base drivers.

The File I have uploaded is the one im using.

Can someone tell me how I lay these out on a floppy so they can be used ?

Any help would be great guys.

I cant find an older version for the base drivers. Ive gotten some RAID drivers and im going to test them now so I will be back.

Any help in the meantime would be great.

All you should need to do is make it into a bootable floppy.

It's weird, because you don't generally need drivers for the HDD. Even for 64bit.

Well I need them for mine. No for Vista it doesnt need to be bootable as it as a GUI very much like Linux for the install so I can freely browse media so I dont think it needs to be bootable.

Jeez. Still no joy. Ive tried nearly every 64bit driver. The only one that will work is the 32bit one I had ages ago but I cant use it as its 32bit. It carries on to install but I cancel as im sure it wont funtion properly with a 32bit version...this is getting annoying.

Well im not sur what to do. I have tried every 64bit driver there is for my controller and it doesnt like them. I tried installing with a 32bit version as that seems the only one compatible with my hardware...atleast that was what vista states. Of course it didnt work. Im now officially stumped.

Wow, jeez man. Can't believe you have had such a hard time with this.

All you can do is keep trying.

Have you tried with just one HDD rather than 2

Try both seperately. Then you may have to plug the other on in when Vista is installed.

Not the perfect solution but better than nothing if it works.

Copy n paste ? lol

Well thats not the problem. For some reason Vista is not liking any driver I throw at it apart from the 32bit ones lol...it makes so little sense. Im getting rather annoyed now.

Any Ideas guys. Ive learnt that I need the same driver version as my Controller BIOS version which is 5.3.14. Now I have tried the correct drivers but vista still states its incompatible with my hardware.
