Sorry, I know this forum is filled with this type of thread, but I want to avoid gathering all the components to realize there's a compatability problem or I'm missing something.

Kandalf LCS VD4000BWS case (and liquid-cooling)
PC Power&Cooling Silencer 750W S75QB
AMD 6000+ Dual-Core X2
eVGA Geforce 8800 GTS
Windows Vista Home Premium
ASUS Crosshair SLI motherboard
2 GB OCZ Dual-Channel DDR2 900MHz
Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste
HDD's:
probably 2 250 GB Seagate 7200.10 Barracudas in Raid 0
1 WD Raptor (75 GB) for Windows and special apps

Salvaged from my old Sony Vaio:
DVD-ROM drive and DVD+-RW
multimedia ports (camera memory cards)
front USB 2.0 ports
floppy disk drive

This is meant to be an AMD mid-high range with upgrade capability. I have never built a computer before and so don't know what parts come with these things. None of them will be OEM if I can help it. I'm looking for things I've missed/component compatability, or just suggestions on better parts of the same grade.

As for the liquid-cooling, I'm not exactly sure how this works. Like if my CPU will still need a heat-sink or whether at least some fans are necessary. Any advice is much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that the liquid cooling that comes with that set is pretty much all inclusive... it has the block, some tubing, radiator, pump, fans... so you should be fine there. Hopefully it has instructions about how to put it together in your case.

As for everything else, it looks good to me. You won't need to take the usb ports off the front of your other case (unless it is like a drive type of device) because your case will have a place for those already. Enjoy your bild and have fun

Oops! Forgot my sound card. That'll be an Audigy 2 ZS (also from my Sony)

I'm going with the AMD simply for price reasons, and because I like AMD I know the Core 2's are faster.

Well, thanks for the quick responses. I guess I'll get to ordering and see if I can't get this thing to work. I decided to do this because the power supply in my 3 year old Sony Vaio blew and it's almost impossible to get it out, not to mention the power supply was crap anyway and so is the motherboard

A Brisbane 4000+ CPU will OC very well and cost a bunch less! Then perhaps later get a Quad core if you so desire!

Thats one KILLER config you have there

I see you chose to have 2 drives in RAID 0 but then are using a single Raptor for Vista and your games? Why not just put those in the RAID 0 and forget the Raptor, the RAID 0 will be as fast if not a little faster than a single Raptor and you'll save yourself some cash since those Raptors are pricey.

Hmm, good point. I figured it might perform a little faster with the dedicated Raptor, but I'm looking to cut some money out. I'll try it.

And thanks Duke, I'll look into it.

Well, I'm off to work now, I'll be back in about 9 hours
