Why the 7800GTX?

Thread Starter
I was curious as to why as soon as the 7800gtx came out it seemed like they stopped production on it pretty fast. I thought about buying another one off ebay to SLI but i was curious as to what you guys thought. Should i buy another or save a little more for a new 8 series card?

Umm....maybe you're behind on the times? The 7800GTX was out for like....8 months before anything else came out...lol
The 7900GTX was the next thing...and it kicked butt...

Because the 7900 refresh came, using a smaller process technology and allowing for higher core and memory frequencies, thus improved performance. As to your second question, I would save for an 8 or 9-series card because SLI reallllllly isn't worth the trouble and the performance gain is negligible when comaparing SLI'd 7800's to a single 8800 GTS or GTX.
