Can't get at my old "My Documents" folder...

Thread Starter
So I got a new mobo a while back and windows needed to be reactivated since it thought it was a different computer, but wouldnt let me, so i just made a fresh install of windows on a new drive thinking that i could just move all my documents to the new OS install. BUT I had a password on my old windows logon and now it says "Access Denied" because the files are encrypted i think. but i want to get my old docs back all my pics and music and everything are locked! does anyone know a way around this? PS i cant boot into that install anymore, so I can't get rid of the password. Also I can't copy, move or even view anything in the my documents thing... Help?

Create an administrator user with the SAME username AND password as the one on the old computer. the other option is to reinstall windows on the old partition. I guess you're using windows vista so it will put all the old files in windows.old.000 or something. again make sure your username and password match the info to the old account.

Nothing you can do in its current set-up. That is why it is such a bad idea to put stuff in my documents. put the old drive in the old computer it was in, that should work. other than that, windows is very secure about my documents and wont let you in.
