Yea, because modding a 360 won't void the warranty at all.

All of you people who got an Xbox in 2006/2007 just got OWNED.
How did we get owned? We get to enjoy our Xbox 360s for two years before you even have one and if they break down we get a new one for free. Oh the horrors!

No. That's not the problem. The problem is the way they attached the CPU and GPU to the mainboard. They used a ball grid array (BGA) to hold them on and not a PGA setup. Simply put, flex = GPU/CPU come off = RRoD

That's why the tricks like.. the towel trick work, it get's the solder hot so it conducts better and works like it's suposed to.

And it could be like the PS3, sucks and nothing anyone will do about it.

If this is true, in that Microsoft has admitted that this is a design flaw and that every 360 sold has an unacceptable chance of failing, then it's VERY obvious that the design flaw exists because MS wanted the 360 to cost as little as possible, so they cut corners and/or bullied the 360 manufacturers into making the 360 a cheap POS like the oh-so-many "Keepin' it Real Fake" subjects on Engadget. It's really kind of sad that they would go to such great lengths just to have a lower price.

exactly, so it is unfair how people treat Sony who willingly lost $200++ per console and still sold it at a very high price because they made sure their console was top notch and not a dud, same with Nintendo except it was alot easier for them to make sure 5 year old parts work good

Lol
How did you guys pwn us? We got the 360, and we have been enjoying great games for two years, where as you guys on Wii have ZERO actual games, it's all that Wii-party-game crap that you can't play alone. And those of you on PS3 have paid $600 to have a minimal base of good games. I know that the PS3 has Blu-Ray, but seriously, if you pay $600 to get a PS3, you still have to pay ANOTHER $1500 to get a 40"+ HDTV to utilize the "Zomg Blu-Ray+game system for cheap" factor.

So really, is spending more than $2000 worth it to game? Not to most, so how did we Xbox 360 owners-- myself who just spent $290 to get a PREMIUM system + Gears of War+HD hookup for my 22" LCD PC monitor--get owned by the Wii (which has NO actual games) and the PS3 which has 2 or 3 good games and costs $2000 to game HD on?

An Xbox 360 has tons of games of for it, plus you can get a used PREMIUM system for < $250 on ebay, and comes with a now extended three year warranty...
I'm sorry, but it sounds like all of YOU got owned by not purchasing a product that had some problems, but was manufactured by a company--Microsoft--that has enough integrity to increase their warranty and continue to make the FIRST next-gen game console the best.

Er, 360 has massive (stupid) flaw... that's generally how you got pwnt.
Oh, and if you retaliate with "oh extended warranty, free repairs etc"
Well... did you not notice the people NOT getting reimbursed, not to mention downtime of the console, and the fact that microsoft hid one flaw, who knows what else is hiding?

The only flaw the PS3 has is the fact that they should have prepped more games for it before launch.
Oh - and who says you have to get a huge HDTV for a blue ray...
Pretty sure my ghetto 20 year old 46" projection TV (definately NOT HDTV) would look absolutely amazing with blue ray...

Gotta love the "I have a 360 so I have to defend it" crap (not directed at you specifically skeegle)

I just don't think people understand.... new consoles + new game coding means the developers need more time to learn it. Seriously. Oh - and the main reason I want PS3 over 360? Sony games just play better.
Xbox seems to be all about shooters to me, and shooters NOT on a PC, just suck.

I have yet to really chime in on this debate, because its absolutely rediculous. I think ElMike is one of the few (probably less than 10) people that understand ALL sides of the battle, in reality, and honestly know what they are talking about. Otherwise, it's all nub fanboys... I personally will tell you, I am a sony fanboy... I hate pretty much anything with M$ on it, except windows... until Linux + Beryl/Compiz came around... screw vista! lol
