Yeah its a cheap blu-ray player compared to stand alones, but burning movies is time consuming. And I do burn movies on a regular basis. But HD-DVD I'm not to sure about I'll wait to either becomes no.1 mainstream...

I've seen this story across the interwebs and I have yet to see where this claim is being pulled from. This site (which seems to be the origin of the story) just pulls the same quote as everybody else from the same statement as everybody else then goes on to make an extraordinary claim. Until I see rationale, I will consider this story TheInq worthy

Last I checked, the HD DVD Player unit is a $200 unit SEPERATE from the Xbox 360 Console, which does not have said unit preinstalled. So basically, you're getting a lot more for the money with a PS3, not to mention that it's a quality Blu-Ray player, coming directly from Sony itself. Kthnx.

Oh by the way, Blockbuster will support Blu-Ray as the primary type of HD media throughout it's 1,450 stores nationwide, only renting HD DVD in 250 of said stores. Do I really have to continue?

Oh - and who says you have to get a huge HDTV for a blue ray...
Pretty sure my ghetto 20 year old 46" projection TV (definately NOT HDTV) would look absolutely amazing with blue ray...
My PS3 comment was to specify that in order to attain the advantages that the PS3's Blu-Ray player has (which is great, I know), is that you NEED to purchase a $1500+TV to utilize it. Even though PS3 looks great on your projection 46"TV that is NOT HDTV, a standard DVD player would provide the exact same image quality as the $600 PS3 would, since your TV can't utilize HDTV, thus justifying my comment that Blu-Ray costs thousands to reap true benefits. That said, as a gaming console, I don't think the PS3 or Wii have anything against 360 at this time, besides the fact that 360's have a higher fail-rate.

The 360 has hundreds of games out for it. The PS3 doesn't, and the Wii has virtually zero games out for it (ACTUAL games, not silly party games).

I've ALWAYS been a playstation fanboy, I went out and paid $300 for a PS2 when I was only 15 and had NO money, because I knew it would pwn. I just think that at this stage in the game, the PS3 has been bested, and that the Wii isn't even in the question since it can barely boast PS2/Xbox graphics and has zero games available.

I just spent $290 to get a like-new Xbox 360 PREMIUM(2 yrs and 2 months full warranty left), Gears of War, and an HD cable for my LCD monitor. So basically, to game in HD, as well as having dozens of great games available to me, it only cost's me $290 with a 2yr+ warranty. PS3 ALONE costs $600.

All I have to say about your PS3/HDTV arguement is : you don't have to buy the TV.

Having the blu ray already in your arsenal of equipment means, when the time comes to get an HDTV, you already have the player

I do agree @ this stage, PS3 has been "bested". But think of where it's going to go from here, that's going to be the real test

In all honesty - Why did you buy a ps3, xbox 360, or a wii? I hope it was to play games on - If you bought it for any other reason you got owned before you even forked the cash over. I'd much rather have actual GOOD games to play on a GAMING console than to have my panties in a bunch because im trying to justify my ass raping with "oh it still plays blu-ray".

Mjaority of the globe doesn't even have a HDTV, so by the time Blu-Ray and HD DVD become popular enough like the current format of choice, DVD, you'll be able to get a hidefinition player of choice for $100. OH WAIT! "atleast I was ready 5 years ago when I bought $500-600 Blu-Ray player with a wiress ps2 controller"
