In all honesty - Why did you buy a ps3, xbox 360, or a wii? I hope it was to play games on - If you bought it for any other reason you got owned before you even forked the cash over. I'd much rather have actual GOOD games to play on a GAMING console than to have my panties in a bunch because im trying to justify my ass raping with "oh it still plays blu-ray".

Mjaority of the globe doesn't even have a HDTV, so by the time Blu-Ray and HD DVD become popular enough like the current format of choice, DVD, you'll be able to get a hidefinition player of choice for $100. OH WAIT! "atleast I was ready 5 years ago when I bought $500-600 Blu-Ray player with a wiress ps2 controller"
Most people who do pick up a 360 or PS 3 realize that a HDTV is requirement to enjoy the console. Ever play a 360 on a SD TV? Let me tell you it looks like crap and is in fact unplayable in some cases becaues the text is very blurry.

I also know a lot of people who don't own a HDTV but instead hook up their consoles to a computer monitor and it works just as well and the cable is fairly inexpensive too.

P.S. Lol at TheNut's comment.

every console had/has problems, not very one of the 11.1 million or what ever it was is going to fail, the odds are its more in the 33% like M$ said i dont see how they could have over looked somthing so bad as this and then had to make a nothere batch of 11.1 million for the first 11.1 million, thas 22.2 million consoles for just 11.1 million of them being sold.It dosent mean much for me becuase i have only sent my consloe back once in the last 2 year or how ever long its been sence luanch,And i have never had it freeze or and thing just the ring of death.

Yes my previous comment generalized quite a bit but you guys can't tell me you don't feel the same way. It's pretty much like this: 360 thread = Microsoft bashing. PS3 thread = Sony bashing. It's ridiculous how little these threads have to offer sometimes.

I will say that the article definitely seems to have taken things out of context the way they have summed everything up.

Regardless, a design flaw is a design flaw. Just because your console doesn't fail doesn't negate the fact that the potential to fail is there.

No matter what the failure rate is, the fact that there is a fundamental design flaw that could potentially cause a failure in any 360 cannot be overlooked. It usually just means you haven't done anything yet to uncover said flaw.

Anyway, Microsoft stepped up and finally talked about it and is offering an excellent warranty. And I'm sure updated versions of the console will be released.

So yes, people are going to point, laugh, complain, criticize, etc. but in the end it looks like Microsoft is taking care of the consumer.

There has been a problem/recall with the Wii:

They recalled the wrist strap cuz it "could" break if you swung by it... Oh ya they'll send you 4 new ones for free

As for the Wii being for party games... ya that's true but at least the Wii peepz will be a bit more socially adept

If it breaks send it in for free, they pay everything and you get a new one. The 360 is still awesome..
If you go to the Xbox site they address this and say they will reimburse you completley and shoud receive a check in 10-12 weeks

Q: Do I get a refund?
A: Yes, we will reimburse any customer who was out of warranty and paid for repairs due issues indicated by the three flashing red lights error message. Customer should expect to receive a check in 10-12 weeks

10 12 weeks?

Wow, that's quick!

@@

At Wii Strap recall: Only the few dee-dee-dee's that flung their remotes were at fault. I ordered 4 new ones right as I got my Wii and within a week they were here..

Ouch. Well I knew the 360's where suffering badly but I didnt know it was a design flaw across the board. This is going to damage MS reputation. Im glad I didnt get a 360 for sure now.

case in point - ps3's lack of vga output =o) SO even IF I didnt have an HDTV, I couldn't even hook it to my PC monitor, which is indeed what I had done with my 360.
