Nintendo is pumping out as many Wiis as possible. When they need to ramp up production it's a 7+ month process to get ATI to make more GPUs and IBM to make more CPUs and line up extra factories and such. I think Nintendo is still pumping out close to 600,000 per month.

They are *not* keeping supply short on purpose and such an idea is completely asinine.

IMO.
They aren't creating the shortage. They're letting people create the shortages.

Up here in BC, there's a supplier with hundreds upon hundreds of them in his warehouse. He moves them through quite fast, but always has hundreds on-hand for large orders.

But if people think they're hard to get, people buy, rather than wait.

Higher. They've distributed almost 9 million into the supply channel, now? Weren't they aiming for 4-5 million in March?

March -> April -> May -> June -> July.

4 to 4.5 months, and basically another 4 to 4.5 million Wiis.

1 million per month.

Nah. The ^ was a joke. It's something to be considered that Nintendo did well with the debut, but fell short of adamant to supply when they pumped out the first million or so. Now comes the time where they swell with product and spread it across the land. The big N could use some profit, considering the biggest titles of this year are right around the corner for the other two companies.
In september 3 of nintendo's heavy hitters will be coming out, Smash Bros, Super Mario and Metroid Prime, so they shouldn't have anything to worry about when it comes to competing in that respect.

Yeah, it's kinda just a sad fact piece of reality it seems... Ah well, I was waiting for the BLACK WIIs anyways. Maybe I'll pick up a BLACK Xbox in the meantime, now that Microsoft has finally decided to increase the heat sink size... Or not. I'll just keep saving my money for my new "guest" machine, heheh.
