guys, go back through this thread and look at what people recommend and what video cards those people have. ATi owners are saying to buy ATi while nVidia owners are saying to buy nVidia. what does that mean? that they're both great companies that make great products and have lots of loyal customers.

they're both great video cards. the GTX will give you slightly better performance while the XTX will cost less and make your computer stand out in the crowd a bit. it seems like 8800 owners are everywhere, while 2900 owners are the rebels that like to try something different

Well I will recommend a X2900XT and a 8800GTS and a GTX to anyone, depending on your budget.
