Short on Voltage?

Thread Starter
I think my PSU may not have enough power, my system is not stable over 3.6 GHZ with the ram at 800MHZ or more. The ram is running at 2.4 V and the cpu at 1.56V. My system specs are below, and I am running fine until I try to increase the ram and cpu or ram near 1000MHZ. I have tried a handful of psu calulatrs and have figured it myself with results form 400 W - 750W. Any body have any suggestions?

After looking into this PSU a bit, I found this:

Quote:
Separate 12V rails
Independent 12V rails supply to MB/CPU and drives in order to provide stable and clean current to noise-sensitive devices,
such as: CPU, add-on cards.
offer a safer operating circumstance to users.
It seems that your PSU has a different rail for MoBo power and for "other" power (fans, optical drives, hdd's). This could be the problem. It could be that the company didn't allow for high enough power on that rail to overclock well enough.

I'm not saying it is the PSU, but if you can't figure out anything else, then when you look for a new PSU, make sure to ask around and people will have some suggestions on some very high quality and proven PSU's.

I hope you get it figured out.

I am about 80% sure that the unit is not providing enought to the mobo. It was designed for a P4 and the new dual cores, with my 1066 ram I believe are drawign to much power.

then look for another one. Here are a few threads on "good" PSU's:

More than likely, stick with GameXtream or P&C PSU's. I know there are more, but those are the two that stick out in my mind. Both are high quality and have low ripple.
