It also happens whether the motherboard is mounted or simply lying on an electro static bag. One mobo is unknown status, the other is straight from CyberDruid, so I'm pretty sure that one should work. I have one set of Corsair value dual channel, and one of Mushkin redline. One x2 4400 or a brand new opty 165.

I have the 2900XT about to be cycled into another rig for testing(not mine). And I'm hoping that I can begin cycling components until I completely narrow it down. Sorry guys I was just venting. I'm just completely sick of all of this. For the last three months I just can't get a system working(can't afford anything else). I'm sick of this POS laptop, I want my gaming rig back up and it just isn't working. I've replaced literally every part, except for the PSU. But the system powers up. All the fans start, the leds light up, the drives spin up. No post. For three months now.
What I meant was that maybe just the +3.3 rail is broken on the PSU so your CPU wouldn't be getting any power, but the fans and everything else would.

Okay the results of testing on the other system have cleared the ram, 2900XT, cpu's. That leaves the mobos and the PSU. I think we're going to test the PSU now.

EDIT: My cousin also has a A8NSLI. His booted up without a problem, while running the X24400 using the Mushkin Redline. I have two bad motherboards.

Are there any decent non-SLI overclockers left in Newegg's socket 9393 section?

Pickin's look slim, pardner.

If I were to take a flyer (and spend my own money) on anything on that list, it'd be on the Foxconn nForce4 Ultra. Apparently it's got good overclocking features, especially considering its price.

The only motherboard I'd recommend on that list is the most expensive one (the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe). Despite my recent problem with mine, it's still a great motherboard. I'll be getting one back post-RMA sometime (hopefully soon). But it's definitely my favorite motherboard.

How come your parts seem to get to you DOA? Weird that it happens so often; it can't be coincidental...

Maybe the delivery guy has it in for him, but some folks seem to just have crap luck.

Yeah, the DFI Ultra-D. I picked this one up for like $180 on eBay. I brought this 2.2Ghz to 2.7 stable on 1.45v with probably the cheapest 2GB RAM ever put into a machine. I ordered the Mushkin Redline pc 500 tonight. I can't wait to se what it can do on this mobo. This thing has more tweaks than a Tourets patient.
Edit: I just saw you said from Newegg-good luck.

Well, lets see, this year the ASRock Dual VSTA arrived screwy and died, a bad bios flash has the A8R32 out of commission and it's now confirmed that the replacement bios chip isn't working(I'm going to keep trying on that board, love that thing), and now one of the most respected members on our forum sent me a verified working board and I never got it to boot. Please note, that's just this year. Last year I bought an open box A8E and it never booted. I think that I generate some sort of reverse polarity magnetic field that kills electronics because I go through them quick.

I need it reliable so the DFI is out. If I can get the A8R32 up and running again my Dad is getting a 4000 San Diego, 7900GT, 1gb upgrade to his current socket A athlon 2600.

Foxconn it is then.

Check the seating of the CPU..seriously..

Ive wasted more time troubleshooting problems that turned out to be a badly seated CPU than any other issue.

Even recently I'd get the same symptoms as you..no post, no bios error, nothing..then when I did get a bios error it was indicating DRAM refresh failure. Turned out it had nothing to do with the RAM. What it was was the CPU cooler retianing bracket putting too much pressure on the CPU..go figure. Fixed that problem & it posts everytime..

The biggest tip I can give anyone (and its one Ive learnt over time) is: Dont assume logic is behind every problem. Once you have followed the logical troubleshooting path & you still cant find the problem, throw out logic & look for that that you would expect could have nothing to do with the issue..

Dude, around you NOTHING is reliable apparently, lol. This board rocks, and I got it to replace an A8N32-Sli Deluxe that came out of the box with pci-e slot 1 DOA and slot 2 burned out 2 months later.
But that doesn't mean I'll never buy Asus again.
