Help Installing SATA drive

Thread Starter
hey guys,

i recently bought a 250GB Seagate 7200.10 SATAII drive and i wanted to install windows on it. I ended up having to install the SATA drivers from the floppy (pressing f6 when installing...). My problem now is that my new drive is not showing up in BIOS but i can still log on to windows and everything. I wanted to remove my old drive and just have the new one, but when i take it out, i cant boot from anything...My old hd is a 40GB Maxtor IDE drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check under either Advanced or Peripherals for SATA (or Drive Configuration, just depends...) If you still can't find it, give us a list of the categories / options in BIOS you see.

If this is the mobo in your Sig, then it has RAID functions. Many times you can set how the SATA acts, either as RAID, Normal or IDE or some other setting. If it gives the option, choose either IDE or Normal.

Hrm... I don't see anything in the BIOS for it either...
You may try jumpering the Hard Drive to limit it to SATA speeds instead of SATA II...

Place a jumper on the first 2 pins on the left of the drive and see if the BIOS sees the drive.
