after switching the jumper i also get this now...

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional info.

I took a look at the actual hd and it shows me that you have to put the jumper on the right two pins instead of left to limit the sata speed. I did that and it still doesnt recognize my hd.

well when i installed my 300gb SATA (seagate too) i just plugged it in and turned my comp on, since my OS is on my raptor hd. i formatted the seagate drive and it automatically asked me if i wanted to make that drive my primary drive and install windows on it. did this happen to you to or did you just install it and throw windows on it right away? try booting off of your current hd and then format the new hd, then restart and set the boot order, run xp/vista disk and install windows.

try running your xp off your old drive. then go into my computer, right click on the seagate drive and then select format. after this try installing windows.
