I dont understand, the Q6600 is a quad core as well. If price was the same, I would go with the Extreme version. Why not. They are basically the same chip, but with a unlocked multiplier and a possible higher bin for the 10X multi.

The question was "loaded" to begin with. Now IF PRICE was an issue (which it is) the poll would be way different...

Yeah I don't understand why people would choose a slower processor over a faster one for the same price..

Now, if the price was different then definitely go with the Q6600 since both will probably overclock the same due to heat limitations.. If your using phase or high-end watercooling then the QX6700 might be slightly better at OCing.

Agreed... In addition Extreme edition processors get the best silicon, only taken from the center of the wafer. Yum yum, intel even cut off the crust!

Honestly the original proposition was quite silly.

My sentiments exactly. This would've been a better discussion with the price as a factor. Sorry, nothing personal.

I agree. I am buying the q6600 when the price drops on July 22. Now if both were the same price (being if it were the soon to be q6600 price point that is ) I wouldn't think twice about getting the qx6700 extreme.

Now one could argue this if the q6600 simply out overclock the qx6700 by a considerable margin. If that were the case I would go with the q6600.

i'd take the QX6700 because it has an unlocked multiplier and the Q6600 runs very hot overclocked, even on a good wcing system

Yeah, I have noticed that and believe me, I have been thinking hard about it. Just got my heart set on a quad and cannot seem to change my mind yet, alot can change before July 22.
