Help with Overclocking Q6600 - Page 2

There aren't really many good liquid coolers under $100. The cpu should be fine at 66 even though its a little high. 4.0ghz is possible with liquid.

I forgot to mention, I left me CAS setting at 5-5-5-15, as that is what it say on the box for Corsair XMS2 PC2-8500. Should I have changed that to 4-4-4-10 as you did?

66c was only when I was running 3DMark06 and the Windows Experience Index update. Orthous put me at 70c really quick, and that was only one instance. However, I don't think I have ever played a game that has made out my CPU like Orthous does, so it isn't a real world example. Thanks,

Why is mine so much hotter than yours???

I have my PSU facing so that the PSU fan is directly in front of the CPU fan, and they are pulling in different directions, so that may play a little part, but I'm guessing that, that isn't the cause since I have a Vornando blowing on the system.

Your thoughts guys???
Because you're using a low end cooler - or at least slightly low-end. Using a 7700 is just suicide because it were designed years before the Q6600 came out.

Yes, but what cooler can I buy that will fit between the MB and the PSU. Take a look at my case layout here: http://www.lian-li.com/product/produ...index=4&type=b
The PSU goes on the bottom of the case under the side fan you see in the picture; which is directly in front of my CPU. I probably need a new case and a new CPU fan. Does the money ever stop flying out of my wallet, freakin PCs cost too much
