I gots the Mushkin.

Unfortunately, I haven't tested them properly (i.e., with my original sig rig, not my "office machine" occupying its place at the moment).

But, on a customer's rig, I've gotten them up to about DDR485 or so (a very quick test, without tweaking voltages or timings). The tester motherboard was my backup TForce 6100-939, FYI.

I'll give them a proper spin once I get my A8N32-SLI back from RMA. But my feeling is they'll go to at least DDR500, as claimed.

Yeah, I'm still looking around the net just a bit longer but the Mushkin I think it will be.
Thanks for the input and for staying on-topic.

Of course I cannot make a purchase like this without consulting with the baddest overclockers on the 'net.
I need 2 GB. First off remember that this is a 184-pin board before you go recommending 10,000 different types of 240-pin RAM. I'm looking at something fast to begin with and overclockable too.

First off I looked at the Mushkin pc4000 here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146034

Then the Kingston pc4000 of course here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134123
Both because of thier speed. But besides that, I don't know what's out there or who to even buy from.
Mushkin is great ram, and their customer service was amazing for me when I effed up my Redline BH-5...

I know you want to but DDR ram is more expensive than DDR2 and if just save more to step up to an AM2 / C2D based rig you will be leaps and bounds beyond what a DDR ram upgrade can do

Like I wrote, I use 184-pin so I'm kinda limited. I'm not upgrading this rig any more than the RAM and then an 8800gtx just before Crysis comes out in September. Then it'sgoing to my 6-year-old around next April (Minus the 8800 ) and I'm starting on a new build for myself. Most likely socket AM2 and by then the jury will be out on the new AMD Phenom quad-core that comes out in early '08. But I'll have to see about all that. Plenty of time untill then.

First problem, you got married... Seriously, it really cuts into the budget, and makes upgrading your computer a lot more stressful!! Oh how I hated the flack for dropping $300-400 on computer parts... and I wasn't even married, just dating (for a long time)...

But back on topic... check the link below and take note of all the RAM that uses Samsung UCCC, which will be 1gb sticks (make it quicker w/ Ctrl+F to search the webpage for "UCCC"). UCCC RAM is pretty consistent for OCs in the 250-280MHz range, with proper timings (about 3-4-4-8). Another option is finding Hynix D43 RAM, which I believe is almost always 1gb as well. Same OC potential, and about the same timings. Then if you can find any 1gb sticks with Micron -5B F ICs, I believe they tend to be very nice overclockers with fairly tight timings, but I also believe require more volts than the other two (anyone wish to comment and add more insight here?).

If you're looking for good RAM for OCing, the name on the sticks is one thing, the ICs they use are another. I know eBay is sometimes frowned upon in here (sometimes), but when buying RAM on eBay, one good thing is you can either look at actual pictures of the RAM and see the product code, or ask the seller what the product code is to find out exactly which ICs are used. Not to mention you'll usually get a lot better prices on there too, so long as you have some patience. And its rare to buy dead RAM on eBay... and if you do you'll normally get your money back one way or another (be sure to use PayPal).

Anyway, good luck!
