Why don't you take her 8600GT for a while (unless she needs it for games or for connections). Oh... PCI-Expres... Damn. I would recommend saving up some money and getting an X1950Pro, or, if you can wait longer get a board with PCi-Express and get a good card like a 7800GT, X1950Pro, or another 8600GT.
Now that I think about it if you get a good Motherboard with PCI-Express you could get a cheap card (7300 or something) for her and take her 8600GT.
I checked out some feedback on the card and read this.
"Cons: After two weeks it started to crash every 5min. So I tried everything to get it work again but eventually it died out....I was very disappointed. If you're lucky this card will make you Satisfied. But, most likely this card will will fail you."
Normally i wouldnt care about this kind of feedback but as a previous ATI owner I know the feeling and RMAed quite a few their older cards. My 6800 lasted 3 years at least and it died because I really pushed it hard by volt moding it and doing every imaginable thing I could throw at it. Every ATI card i ever owned may have lasted me two weeks tops and that was at normal levels.
3. I just have way too many bills right now but i still need to game so I think its going to be the 7800gs. Im starting to look at the 7900GS. I could get a killer deal on the 7950GT.
Just to let you guys know I was able to get my old 6800 to max graphics out on new games at highest resolutions just before it died. I just wasnt satisified with 30 fps anymore and just pushed it more than it could take.
