Could somebody please give me step by step instructions on how to overclock my newly built system? I'm almost completely a noob at this.

my specs
-Intel E6600 @ 2.4 GHz (hope to change that soon)
-my memory <---link
-my gpu<---link
-my motherboard <---link

I just want to get my system running really fast but not unstable.

Welcome to OCN first off and the parts you have got are great should get to 3.0 on air easy with that cooler. just up the FSB couple mhz at a time get into windows and stress for a bit and up some more till unstable or hangs/BSOD. Then you can lower it 10-12 mhz till stable and temps are good. I believe those you can change muliplier not sure much on that but heard lowest is good to get high FSB but testing will prove. Also check around this forum there are alot of those combos around and all will help this site is great. Anyway you can up the vcore a notch to help and disable anything not needed in BIOS as well as run your RAM at its rated timing at 1:1 at first. Nice case perfect for air cooling!

you should probably read up on the e6600 in this forum, and understand what you are doing, before doing it....

i have a thread on my e6600 that has all my bios settings in it, that brought mine to 3.5 ghz. but, like i said, read first, get the appropriate programs (coretemp, or speedfan, or intel TAT) for reading your temps first. then start making subtle changes till you get where you want to be.
