AFAIK, that card uses different opamp, different DAC, or maybe different caps too... not so sure about that, but the point is, we're all want X-fi because of the capability of producing sound quality which is great is every aspects, that is the truth.
but since not all the ppl can afford Xtreme music (which i thought to be the basic model of X-fi), suddenly they got an idea of splitting the benefits from X-fi Xtreme Music into 2 different models, 1 is good at gaming, and the other one is good at audio. that way, they can reduce the cost of the card by taking away the unneeded part for each card.
since Xtreme Audio supposed to be good at music and anything else at average, they didn't feel it was necessary to put good parts and a few of features for gaming, and etc.
