Considering that an E4300 is as close as you can get to a guaranteed 3 ghz overclock the Pentium D would need to be somewhere in the range of 5-5.5 ghz to match it.

how did i know someone would come in and say that? it's like i'm psychic or something. do you need me to define what "most people" means?

MOST people that buy E6600s can't achieve 3.6GHz on air and end up lowering their multi, which effectively makes it an expensive E6420.

the e2160 is the biggest bang for the buck atm. for 9x$ you get a processor that overclocks to atleast 3Ghz and makes it even with the e4300 in many cases ( in some it's even better ) which is 13x$

agreed

the 6600 is the best value (even if you don't OC)

well dare I say it! If you aren't going to be overclocking, wait for the soon to be price drop and upgrade that e6600 to a q6600 for only 50-75 dollars more!

If you're not overclocking, get the E6600 (or wait for the E6750, E6850, or Q6600 price drop). If you do overclock though, E4300 for the best bang for your buck, hands down.
