how hot is too hot?

New to over clocking. did my 1st over clock today
My system is all air cooled and the max temp I got the cpu to was 43c while playing battlefield 2 .

around what temps sure I start worrying?
around what temps are okay?

65 celcius is MAX

I say 55 to be safe and 50 to be ultimate sure

(all on load and in celcius)

Don't go past 55C and you will be just fine.

That's some good temps for a Pentium D though.

stay under 60 and you're perfectly safe. ive read about them surviving over a 100C, but obviously that rapidly decreases their lifespan. (CPU's dont die instantly from hot temps, their lifespan reduces at a higher rate when they get hotter, in most cases)
PD's can handle some more.
My Preshott P4 can go up to 70+ loaded on warm days. still works fine. its not even OC'd lol

off topic a bit what about nvidia gpu's (xfx 8600gt sli) these guy get way hotter then then my cpu they get 53c (no over clock) but how hot is too hot for those?

For video cards, do not exceed 80C load. Beyond that is HOT.

Technically 8 series can go up to 100C. I personally would not run it above 85C.

Technically C2D's can go up to 85C. I personally would not run it above 60C.
