320mb not enough

Thread Starter
I read so many posts about people suggesting the 320MB GTS to anyone who is under the 1600 1200 (1.9MP) res.
I game on1280-960 (1.23MP) 72Hz, now when I play Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars I use about 450MB of Vram at height of game play, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl I’ve seen it get up to 500MB, both games I use highest in game settings, I use riva tuner HM to monitor the amount of v ram used “use the vidmem.dll plug-in to monitorâ€
Now surely anything less than 500MB of Vram will slow the game down?

what settings do you play those games on?

Damn Iampoor you need to stop with silly posts.

On Topic - The VCard will just use the memory alloted by the AGP Aperature or whatever it is called now to help with the Graphics.
Otherwise these will be continual loading off the RAM or HDD

In many benchmarks the 320 and 640 have very similar FPS so im sure the readings in Riva Tuner add up all the video data used in RAM aswell as VRAM

well RT reads the local memory, so meaning the memory on card. And yes i know they bench about the same, but it degrades performance not having enough vran. All these benches that are done with these cards are done on extremly powerfull systems, which done not deplick how a 320 will run on slower comp

i think this is worth looking into. i know some games use more than 256MB of VRAM even at regular resolutions like 1280. i imagine Stalker would definitely be one of them. those massive RTS games probably use a lot too.
