Hi guys
I am at the end of my tether.

I have tried to follow the ultimate overclocking guide but to know avail.
i have managed to change the CPU FSB via BIOS and have manged to get my CPU running speed up a notch, if i try to increase it any further the system crashes and does not recognise my hard drive and cd rom drives etc.

I am aware i have to adjust the multiplier but that option is not avaiable in my BIOS.

I guess i am trying to find out the easy and stable way of getting more out of my CPU and motherboard

I am using a AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ newcastle, which is now running at 2100mhz aftre the tweaking of the CPU FSB.

My motherboard is MSI model number MS-6741

Any info would be helpful guys

Thanks in advance

Give us all the specs of your system, power supply, memory, and what kind of a crash you are getting after upping the fsb to a certain point. Some motherboards just aren't very good overclockers and that could be your problem, but it could be your memory running too high as well.

There are a number of different things that could be the problem here but if we know exactly what hardware you are running and what settings you are trying to use it could help us in giving you good solid advice.

Thanks for the reply Mr Jules

I hope this is enough info for you
I have managed to turn the CPU FSB upto 215mhz, any higher then that and the computer shutsdown or when i log into windows my harddrive/cdrom/dvd writer plus other hardware is not recognised.

PCI=33MHz
PCI-E=100MHz
try to run RAM at 1:1
Up vcore/vDIMM a notch?
Loosen timing all the way?
Disable BIOS options?
Slow down RAM?

hi rick
I am assuming i am able to do all this in the BIOS?
you should put what computer parts you have in your User CP... Add system, makes it easier for us

and yes you would be able to do that from your BIOS

sorry for sounding thick, but are you talking abount control panel now?
Do you want me to go into the hardware tab?
thanks

I don't mean to imply anything, but if you have read that guide with the least of attention, you'd have seen ONLY the AMD FX and Intel EE CPUs have fully adjustable multipliers.

We need these info: mobo model (not serial number) so we can work out what chipset do you have. A K8T800 or any other VIA/SIS would explain the crashes towards 220HTT; ram speed; HT speed (HTTxHTmulti); voltages for CPU, RAM; memory timing.

Take your time finding those out. Without them it's impossible to give anything but an educated guess, which it may not be what you're searching. If you need help finding them out, we're here to help, but we have to start with the beginning, not with the middle.

EDIT: Very helpful software CPUz

Okay thanks for the info
MY chipset is Appollo VIA K8T800(VT8383)
What else do you need me to find

My ram(s) speed ihas two frequency 133 and 166 Mhz

TYPE DDR
SIZE 512
Memory Timing
Frequency = 179.3
FSB DRAM = cpu/12
CAS#LATENCY 2.5 CLOCKS
RAS#PRECHARGE 3 CLOCKS
CYCLE TIME 7 CLOCKS
BANK CYCLE TIME 10 CLCOKS
COMMAND RATE 2T
DRAM IDLE TIMER 16 CLOCKS

MY CORE SPEED IS NOW 2152.0
THE MULTIPLIER IS X10.0
i AM GUESSING MY HT SPEED IS 21520

THE VOLTAGE FOR THE CPU IS 1.472
SORRY I AM UNABLE TO FIND THE VOLTAGE FOR THE RAM

My Opteron 165 has 6 different multipliers in the BIOS or am I miss reading your post?
