This is for those who use the classic windows log on screen. I will show you how to disable showing the username of the last person to log on to the machine.

This does require a registry modification, I accept no responsibility for any crashed computers and lost data. Always backup the registry before making changes and read carefully.

For Windows 2000/XP

Go to the registry and open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\ CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System] and create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called "DontDisplayLastUserName" and set it to "1" to enable or "0" to disable the restriction.

Restart for settings to take effect.

I know most people may not find this useful, but I wanted to know how to do it for myself so I thought I would post it here as well. Also I thought I could put this in the FAQ section but I guess a mod or admin has to move it there.
