Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64/Asus A8n32-sli Deluxe Problem - Page 4

thanks guys, i fitted it after i got home from work yesterday, man what a pain

I couldn't get it fitted with the motherboard inside the case, so i had to remove the motherboard to get it on. Put everything back together, switched pc on, black screen
Disconnected everything, re-connected everything, switched on, still nothing.
So i pulled out gfx card, switch on, this time i get a couple of warning beeps, i thought, great, my gfx card's dead
Anyway, i thought, i'll just strip the pc down again and start all over.
So i did, made sure there was nothing in the case that might have been getting stuck behind the mobo. Double check every connection then switched on, voila, 2 hours and a couple of doobies later, it eventually powered back up
Still not sure what the problem was, but so glad nothing was fried

Nice drop in temp too

i'd imagine that the rotating fan should be pointing towards the front of the case?
yeah
my instructions said that
i asked my dad and he tryed it the other way around and it worked fine
he said to me i was doing it the wrong way...

i've never bothered with that cpu cooler anyway.. thats on my budget system, i'll need a new one soon for my current system, stock is annoying.

anyway hopefully u shouldnt need to take that cooler off anytime soon.

In my experience, with good case airflow, either direction is fine. If there is poor close to stagnant airflow, blowing toward the rear case fan tends to keep the interior temps down.

Anyone ever forget to plug in the fan after re-applying paste? That ENTIRE heatsink gets friggin hot...super hot!! Meaning the heatpipes are doing their job, and even though the fan seems kind of weak, does an amazing job of the heatsink cool. Yes, yes, I was nubbin it that day :-\\
The Freezer 64 pro allows you to move the clips so it will always fit in the correct direction.

I just installed the ac 64 pro on my mum's pc. Its easy. Make sure clip is undone>clip on one side>clip on other side>tighten.

Less than a 5 min job.

Sounds like a good plan. Should be good up to 2.6GHz or better. I got my Sandy up to 2.8 and never broke 45C.

So I finally got my ac freezer 64 seated, was hooking all the wires up only to discover (somehow I missed it) the plug is a 4 pin (not a molex). Is it possible to simply plug it in to the 3 pin slots on the mobo?

Looking like the 4 pin in the 3 pin slot is working. Fan's spinning.
