SBC Yahoo DSL (AT&T) Stealing My Money?

Ok so I have SBC Yahoo DSL which is the new AT&T and we have been subscribing to them for about 3 years (before AT&T bought them out). And my dad ordered a Upgrade called "Pro Package". Before we ordered the uprade Pro Package, we have been scoring similar scores if not a tad bit higher (maybe 1700kbps) *As seen in Screen Shot 1*
Well this Pro Package hasn't raised any scores at all. Nor is there a difference. We never got our Modem Replace/Upgraded, could that be the problem?

Comparison of Packages

NOTE: I did not click Alabama. I clicked the nearest city to me.

I'm supposed to be getting 3mb down with their service. I've never seen it go past 2.5mb

You wont need a new Modem to get the higher speed. You just need to call them and let them know that your speeds are low and they will have to up the output from there side of the fence.

Odd. Because we also received a phone call "Your upgrade to DSL Pro Package has been completed". But I'll see it for myself.

Yeah but it's not the modem that determans the speed it's there stations. It's a cap they use to only let you get certain speeds and untill they up the cap size you wont see any better up or download times.

They also call it training up the modem. It can only be done from there end. Call them and tell them you need to talk to Level 3 tech support they'll know what to do. I have delt with them several times for various customers.

I work for a DSL company, replacing the modem is not gonna do anything since you probably already have an adsl2+ modem that is rated up to 10mbps. If you are towards the end of the loop (which is the tel line running from your house to the central office) about 18,000 feet, 512-1.5 is usually the best you are ever going to get unless they install another subtended dslam or remove a load coil or bridge tap from your line (if that is the case). Just ask your dad what the pro package is that he bought (is it speed or is it a business class package that offers faster service time?)....

Hope this helps!
