P35-DS3R & E6600 OC issues

Thread Starter
I recently upgraded from a e6450 paired with a 965p-ds3 to a e6600 with a p35-ds3r. With the 965p and e6450 i got up to a nice 400fsb completely stable no issues. With my new e6600 and p35 anything above 300fsb gets me a failed test in orthos blend test. I can pass the Gromac tests just fine but the blend tests they fail a few seconds to a few minutes into it.

I followed a overclocking guide for the e6600 on a 965p board. It was pretty tame only suggested 333Mhz as a starting point.

I put in:
FSB freq:333mhz
RAM: running 1:1 with 4-4-4-12 timings stock timings for my set of ram
DDR2 voltage: set to 2.1v my ram is designed to withstand up to 2.4. Also tried going up to 2.2v
fsb: set to 1.40v
mgch voltage: 1.5v
cpu voltage: 1.400
pci-e:100mhz

I managed to get it to a stable 315fsb but thats with setting the sytem voltage to auto. And that wasn't too nice cause for the lowly 315 fsb it was using 1.36 volts for the cpu which seemed ludicrous to me

What BIOS are you at?
You should flash to the F5B beta BIOS.
Found here.

Your RAM is the problem if it fails the blend test but passes the small FTT's. Set your timings to 5-5-4-12 and try again.

*EDIT*

If you can't find this part of your BIOS press ctrl+F1 at the main BIOS screen and an option called "Advanced Chipset Options" should show up.

I just updated the BIOS fired up orthos its ben running for 3 minutes and no fails yet usually by now it would have failed. Hopefully it will last 2 more hours and I can push it past 333mhz.

gonX I will try your suggestion if and when orthos fails again. Sounds like great advice though never thought of that. My RAM is slated to run at 4-4-4-12 up to 1000mhz at 2.2v thats why i never thought to change individual timings.

*Edit*
14 minutes into orthos and no errors pretty darn awesome. Can't believe all the yanking out of my hair was all due to a sh%%ty BIOS. still gonna run it for 2 hours.
