Yeah well you need to run 3DMark06 and post your scores.

I will be receiving a pair of 512s on Monday or Tuesday and will bench them and see what a single card and a dual card setup yields.

Other 2900XT owners have seen 12K in 3D06...
13k here paired with a 3.8Ghz E6600 2900XT 512MB was at 887/999 or something, all on air

BUT...

It doesn't mean jack when it comes to game compatibility. Most older games run ok with performance about where it should be, but new games and especially current (granted mostly nVidia sponsored) DX10 games are beyond belief. Driver's and patches will help, but it still leaves you feeling a bit robbed for the money you've spent.

e.g.
- artifacts in Lost Planet with AA off, and appalling performance with it on.
- font problem in World In Conflict BETA, messed up and looks like chinese or summat. Wouldn't be able to play the game if you didn't know what the options were.
- bad performance with WIC as well.
As for the power requriements,
- GTX runs fine on a 500W Akasa GreenPower, 2900 doesn't - reboots 10 secs to 5 mins into game. 600W Ultra X-Pro EE or 700W OCZ GXS both fine.

The word to remember with this card is - "potential". It has a bucket-load, but the million-dollar question is, will games developers (and ATi's driver team) put the required work in?

Dude you said it yourself. You was seriously disappointed with the performance your 2900XT put out in terms of benchmarking.

It isn't just the 2900XT that are showing to suck at the moment. It's every single DX10 card out there. That is why i have been holding out on buying one. All i have seen is shoddy performance and crappy benchmarks from those things.

1. ALL DX10 cards were having problems with the ported Lost Planet. This isn't an ATI problem at all.

2. Downloaded it in Chinese maybe?

3. That was pretty obvious from the start dude. The fact that you tried to power it on a 500W GreenPower actually surprises me in itself. It has never been a secret that the 2900XT is more of a power hog compared to a 8800
