Custom is a lot more expensive.
Depending on the deal you get, custom phase units can be cheaper. I got lucky. I bought my Vapochill off ebay for $250. I was more for experimenting, and I must say it worked out well. Retail can be 3 times that. I have not priced custom phase units, but from what people have said, you can get one for much less than $750.

Since you are in the UK youre best off getting a custom Chilly1Xtreme XE from Ian for around £500.
He can make them to your requirements and they are able to handle quads.
What you can expect for the unit is temperatures below -45c with 150 watts of load.

Btw, I've already bought the phase, got it a few weeks ago, for 241 quid ($482) It came with a Lian Li V2000, a matrix orbital display, a 420W Tagan modular psu, and 2 cold cathodes. It was already fitted in, which I thought was quite a good deal.
