who can tell me how 2 overclock on a evga 680i a1 - Page 2

figured out my issue, it wasnt the bios, i think the eVGA board is meant to be overclocked through the provided nVidia software, just overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3 in about 3 increments, badass! now to overclock my very horrible temporary graphics card

Hope this helps out the guy who wants to know how to do it, use the software from their site, or the cd, it's called "NVIDIA Control Panel"

im using version 1.2.1.36

good luck!

I wouldn't recommend using the software, it doesn't yield as good results usually. Look at the guides and if some areas are grayed out tell us so we can tell you what to do. And also, don't overclock to fast ("just overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3 in about 3 increments, badass!") That is the way to screw up parts. Instead, go up in slow increments until you can no longer boot windows. Then go down to the last bootable clock and run stability tests. If it's stable then your good to go. Oh and you will want to watch your temps etc.

The provided Nvidia software = Ntune I presume? If so then ditch that crap, it's horrible and might end up fubaring your BIOS.

There is a way to overclock from the BIOS of course just give us more information. What is greyed? What is your BIOS version? etc...

Can FUBAR be used as a verb? Whatever, back on topic. Overclocking through software is a very bad idea. Just don't do it. Please. The best option is to buy a board that is guaranteed to be unlocked. If that is not an option, you can try flashing the BIOS to the most recent version.

Of course it can be used as a verb! It's the action of making something from a un-fubared state to a fubared state.

Cool. I guess it's the "son of an editor" in me that says that because the "F" is F-ed, FUBARed is redundant. Sorry if that made no sense, but it does to me.
Now no more about that, and more of fixing the problem.

Pff don't worry it's unreadable anyway eheh.

Hey threadstealer, when someone told you to not use caplock in your posts they didn't mean to never use caps like at the beginning of sentences...

Also different paragraph for explanation and specs is good. I like punctuation once in a while too.
