[Project] Kai - Page 11

Hullo,
I missed this mod somehow. Anyway...It really looks nice now.
Are you still needing a fan controller, I got confuzzled....you had one then you say you need some fan control?

These are nice (they can be taken apart and the rheostat modded onto the back or side or front.)-
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5986
I think they adjust between 7v and 12v.
If you're interested I have one that I could give you free (you just pay p&p - large letter around 50p to 70p I think)
I only have one available though...If interested PM me, if not free bump for a great project.

Thanks for the offer, but I've found that by disabling the noisy 80mm fan, the AcRyan fan at the front still provides enough airflow to keep the system cool

Bit of irony on my part, I must admit

It's (supposedly) a Japanese translation of the word "large"

Still waiting?

I'm planning to do the same but for an ATX motherboard.
And with a large dvd drive, and the hdd in the bottom chamber.
And I'm planning on making the left and right side panels out of carbon fiber.
The front will be plexiglass, but with 4 blue ledded 120mm fans.

What kind of dimensions would you recommend me?
I was thinking 33x30x30 (WxHxD)?
(33 because of the ATX form factor)

4 weeks!!

That's embarrassing

I'll do it ASAP, it's written on my hand

Where are you planning on putting the PSU? In the bottom chamber?

These pictures might help you out to get an idea of Kai's size:

Yeah, I new about your size, since you used 25cm and 30cm alu corners
But I was thinking what you would recommend for an ATX motherboard, and if you could do it again, what would you change?

And PSU will go in the bottom. Under an ATX motherboard, you have allot of space.

What do you think is the best way to make the corners?
I like what ice_owl did, but that seems allot harder to do

And you would use rivets?

Hmm...

The main problem is the bottom section is too hard to access because I used bolts to hold on the side panels. The next case I make is going to have tapped blocks in the corner - that way the side panels will screw in and will be much more removeable

For an ATX board, leave 1cm on the two sides (as in, left and right) and a good 8cm or so in front of the board to allow for cable routing.

Ice_owls way is by far the best way to make corners - TBH the way I did it was the easiest way, and it's the one to do if you've got limited tools, skills or time
