Would a 92mm antec tornado's massive cfm make up for it not being a 120mm fan or is it suggested to get that large size?

Hmm... It kind of varies, there's no way of giving an absolute "yes" or "no" to that statement unless you've actually tried the specific fan(s).

Basically, I'd say that regardless of fan size, CFM is key..... but the problem is a lot of fan manufacturers seem to mislabel their fan specifications, especially Cubic Feet/Minute. Could be due to varying testing methods.

I have a Vantec Tornado sitting on my Thermalright HR-03 Plus (which is on my 8800GTX). I have yet to get it over 50C. The fan moves A TON of air, I can put my hand behind it and I'd have to say it moves more than my 93.7CFM Thermaltake Smartfans... which I'd hope, considering the Tornado is rated at 119CFM.

Fans are always kind of hit and miss, you never really know what you're gonna get until you try it (or someone else does and tells you about it).

I know you stated earlier that noise is not an issue, but just to warn you... the Tornado is really loud, same with the Deltas (really, really loud). The Thermaltake LED Smartfans are reasonable though. Most of the sound it seems is the air that's being pushed, with no real "whine" or anything.

a 92mm fan with a lot of CFM will be much noiser then a 120mm fan pushing the same.

Why?

Because it has to push the same amount of air but the 120mm can move slower due to its blade size

Hope this helps

I've owned a tornado b4. rated at 55db's so am rating them by the sound levels i heard from that b4 it came to its VERY untimely demise.....(15 minutes.) my bad tho not a faulty fan.

Here's one i had in mind. 10db's less than the tornado but above 100 cfm. do u think I should get more cfm? remembering I live in 33C at night temps summer time and plan to do alittle ocing. (this is OC.net after all )

i think 100 is fine

Remeber every 3 decibles doubles the power required to do it it

Eg 35 cfm is teice as loud as 32 cfm

I know this doesn't seem to have anything to do with this thread but it has everything to do with why am ordering a cooler for my cpu. when i turn off asus' cool n quiet feature my cpu temps rocket from as low at 37idle to 48-50 idle. all under ambiants of 30C. I know the feature is meant to keep the pc running cooler but is a temp jump of 20C natural? especially on stock clocks.
I finally got fed up because i can't oc and boot in vista with the cool n quiet feature on but its not safe to do so without it for too long. even for stock heatsink with a bit more powerful fan that seems very strange. anyone else have this problem with asus boards?
