BIOS updates for G0 stepping?

Thread Starter
Some of the info I've been reading says we will need a bios update to use our G0 Q6600. If our MBs are already quad core capatible, do we need a BIOS update? Anyone have an idea what needs to change in the BIOS?

If your Mobo is Quad-Core compatible then the BIOS update in unnecessary. But its highly recommended. BIOS updates in general fix hardware issues & provide better overall stability.

Never heard of having to update bios to use the G0.

If your motherboard supports quad, it should support the G0 stepping.

There are a few boards that have bios updates released months back that add support for quads,in general, if thats what you mean.

Your motherboard supports the follow Multi-core processors:
# Support Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme/Duo/Quad processors with 1333/1066/800MHz FSB
# Support Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme/Quad/Duo & Pentium® Dual Core Processors

You are good to go.
