I've been meaning to buy this game on steam. It has a high score and good reviews. But does has anyone on here ever played it? If you have what do you think about it?

I was the best game released that year. It was the first game I played where it actually mattered to me how I got through it - theoretically you could go through the entire game without killing anyone, or you could kill everyone. It was the first game where brains trumped brawn, because you could shoot the guards, then pick the lock or blow the door down, or you could hack into a security station and get the automated turrets to take out the guards while you remotely open the door and go through email to find a passcode for the safe behind the door. It was the first game I played where stealth really payed off, but it wasn't required. And if you're wondering why I'm mentioning being careful about who you kill, it's because the game does a very good job of selling that the NPC's are people. And in a few places you can sneak in and out without firing a shot.

It technically has four different endings, although you have to cheat to see the fourth and it's just for laughs. The storyline is branching tree, but it touches on a lot of very relevant topics like the nature of government, humanity, etc.

It was the best because of the story i loved the story and it had new things put into game play. I personally have beaten it about 13 times.

Deus Ex was amazing. I have a copy, but it won't play on this rig right. Every time I start it the graphics go insane. Deus Ex is absolutely amazing. Even in today's standards, I consider it one of the best, most immersive, most open-ended games ever. I absolutely friggin love it.

Deus Ex has so many ways to play. Hell, you can beat the game without killing anyone, it's been done. Or, you can kill everyone. It also has been done.

I never tried Invisible War. Anyone ever try that out?

Just got through it again about a week ago. I have no idea how many times that makes, but it had been long enough that it almost seemed like a new game. Just remember one thing, always take out the guy with the flamethrower first, or have a fire extinguisher handy(not joking).

As for the graphics I got it to work in D3D on a Radeon 9XXX series(P4 Laptop). Even turned the AA and AF on in CCC.

Invisible War was a total disappointment. Some of the gameplay survived, but the maps were claustrophobic, and the story was nowhere near as engaging. Five ending available this time without cheating and THEY ALL SUCKED. They just had to come up with a new engine instead of just licensing Unreal again so that they could focus on content.

I actually liked Deus Ex invisible war. I liked Thief 3 as well. The engine was well suited in my opinion; although maps were small, they had lots of small details.

Dues ex IW endings were too short and pointless, you are correct.

Thief 3 really expanded the gameplay of deus ex Invisible war, but then the company went out of business. Too bad.

BTW, didn't Warren Specter start a new company recently?
