dsl problem

Thread Starter
I have dsl and my isp provider is dsl extrem(dunno if you ever heard of it). Ok so I have this problem where on my modem, the line button keeps flashing nonstop sometimes so i get disconnected from whatever and it gets really annoying. So i called my isp provider and they said get a new phone filter. So i did and same problem. So i call them again they said they don't know so i give up. I try to find out how to fix it myself and for some reason if i put one phone filter backwards meaning the phone like goes into the phone jack and the filter goes into the phone connecting into the phone wire. Anyone know why this is happening. One more question do i need a phone filter on the phone jack i use to plug my modem into? My modem has 4 things or whatever it is called. Power, Line, Link, Data.

If you have a phone jack splitter, the wire that connects to your modem should not be connected to a filter or you'll get a lot of issues. It is recommended to install a filter on every PHONE (not internet) wire in the house to secure the internet's signal if the phone rings.

Do not install a filter in the splitter. Normally install the splitter into the phone jack, install the modem wire in one end and then install a filter for the phone wire in the other, then install the phone wire into the filter.

Did they run a test down for you? Most ISP should do that if you are having connection problems.

Have you tried a new modem yet?

I'm confused, lol. Picture please.

P.S: Try to space out long paragraphs. Some people won't read if it's packed like that.
