Best 2.1 speakers under $50?

I've heard the Logitech x-230's are okay and the Altec Lansing VS2321 are nice too. Can you guys give me any suggestions or any other speakers that you heard might be good so I can look them up? Under $50 please.

I only see two under $50 on Newegg, so if you paid under $50 you're probably talking about the same ones, or even better the cheaper ones.

X-230 gets my vote. They're not stellar in the grand scheme of things, but in the sub-$50 market they're leaps and bounds above the rest.

If you're interested in 2.0, I should have a pair of Klipsch Promedia Ultra 2.0 showing up in the next few days that I plan to do a full review on. You can get them refurbished for $50 shipped on Klipsch's website.

Check out the links from newegg and check out the reviews on each of the said speakers. And look at the specs. All though there really aren't any to look at for the VS2321's.
ALTEC LANSING VS2321 2.1
Logitech X-230 32 watts RMS 2.1 Black Speaker System

From personal experience, I've got the X-530's which is the 5.1 config for those same speakers. I love them. No they're not the beset, but they do a fine job.

I'd choose the X-230's.

Nice, thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think they sold speakers at that price level, even refurbished. I'll have to check out the reviews (just glancing, they seem positive). With a one year warranty, it looks like a good deal to me so far.

I guess 2.0 just means it has bass built into the speakers? That's probably better for me since I have limited space on my desk.

Yep, 2.0 just means 2 speakers, and no sub. You won't get the same in-your-gut bass that a sub would give, but the overall sound should be better as there are less things they need to spend money on. they'll have bass, it just won't be as pronounced as with a subwoofer. That's what I'm hoping. they seemed to be reviewed very well, so for that price, I decided to just go for it.

Me too, I just ordered them. I'm not much of a bass freak anyway. Klipsch doesn't charge for shipping? I ordered, and was surprised that my total was $50 with no tax or shipping charged.

Thanks again for the recommendation. I look forward to the review, people on Amazon.com seem to really like them.
