Q6600 G-0 Stepping - Bios update

Thread Starter
This is one of two articles indicating that a BIOS update is needed for a Q6600 G-O processors. Does anyone know what in the BIOS needs updating? My MB indicates that it is read for quads and the future 45nm procs (Penryn, I assume)

Emailed ABIT last week with this question but didn't get an answer yet.

Thanks...Curt

(Posted this Q on a different thread the other day but it disappeared)

I doubt thats true, but if it is the BIOs update will most likely come out a week before the G0 steppings start mass-shipping.

And as you asked in the other thread, if the bios update is required, it will be a "passive" thing. There won't be a setting that you need to turn on, it will automatically detect. All you would need to do is update your bios.

I cannot see why they would require a BIOs update though.

I bet your P35 already has the required update as well, its a brand new board.

Yeah, I know what u mean. Be hard to find someone to borrow a 775 cpu to post and flash bios where I live. Most folks I know have AMD pc's or older Intel stuff.

But like Murlocke said, I believe most P35 boards may already be ready for the G0. I believe the Gigabyte board I am eyeing is ready for the G0 quad.

After two weeks of waiting ( two emails sent to both the US and Taiwan support) I decided to call ABIT. They are totally useless. They seem to make a good board but their support leaves a lot to be desired. I tried giving the guy a cpuid of the GO and he didn't even know what I was talking about....
Rant off.
